Los Hombres de Musgo, is a unique addition to the annual Corpus Christi celebrations that take place in Bejar, Spain. The moss men and women commemorate an event that took place in the 14th Century. Legend has it that a Christian army initiated a successful attack on the fortress of Bejar cleverly camouflaged in moss to blend in with the foliage of the town.

Being chosen as one of the Hombres is a huge honour and people in the community are selected because they have prayed for something that has become a reality. The dressing ritual takes several hours as the individuals are wrapped in layers of moss. Together they stagger and stumble, carrying this great weight through the streets as the crowds cheer them on.
